Born and raised in Owatonna, MN, Matt Herzog first stepped into the Minneapolis music scene in 1999 as co-lead vocalist and guitarist of "The Half Ton Club". Upon winning a 27 band competition, studio time was awarded at Oarfin Records resulting in airplay on 104.1 FM "The Point". HTC performed local stages (Fine Line, Cabooze, Turf Club, 400 Bar, Uptown), and several college towns throughout the midwest over the following five years.

In 2021, his debut solo album, “Keep It Light”, was released through collaboration with musicians met over the years and layering the rest of the tracks from his home studio.

"Matt Herzog Band" started performing live in April, 2022 primarily in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The Heartland Rock, Funky Blues band balances songs from the album with revamped older originals and clever cover renditions.
